goodbye to benton

Today I'm feeling rather sentimental and sappy over my bestie moving to England (okay not really to England, but moving anywhere other than down the street from me feels like England). We've only been sharing this neighborhood for less than a year together, however he's lived in the area for over five years now. His place...a periwinkle shaded Victorian that houses a million great memories of mine, not to mention is a constant inspiration decor-wise (thanks to Joey of course).
This has been the center of many amazing parties...everything from a fancy 60's based dinner party, to an insanely decorated vampire themed bash, going away gatherings, birthday get togethers, you name it.
Best of all it has been my favorite spot to just hang out with some of the most wonderful people. Decorated for a party or not, plain old Benton Avenue will surely be missed.

Here's a look back in pictures...

orange & yellow kitchen (0ne of my favorite rooms!)

There are so many pictures and other areas that aren't covered (such as his sixties bar, bedroom, office, okay...just about every little nook is equally incredible!).

As sad as I am to see Joey leave Benton Ave, I cannot wait to see his new place (not that far away) and all the new rooms and decorating that I'm sure will be filled with many more memories to make me sappy over.

in the sea

This Summer I've been a busy bee working on a new series of work I'm calling "in the sea", which is of course still all things nature related.
I'll be listing five new paintings from this series tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29th in the afternoon. Look out for them in the shop!
Here is a preview...

All on wooden plaques with a glossy finish.

Two more paintings from this series are in the works and will also be listed soon... one of which is a cute little whale!

into the trees, into the trees...

The past couple of weeks I've taken some back and forth trips in New England and took too many pictures of foresty landscapes. Dreamiest ever? Yes!

summer projects for meow meows

Before I forget, there is a new print up in the intheforest shop! The original is a birthday gift for one of my friends which I haven't officially given to yet...so Courtney if you are reading this don't look <3
A little here and there I've been scheming up a new project for all of my friends and family with cats (there are a lot!). Last December for the holidays I made catnip pizzas which were a hit...

For Summer I came up with watermelons & limes that will be completed and given out soon!

The summer update for the shop is getting close and I will be announcing that next...

into the night we are fireworks

Late last week the city of Somerville had their postponed 4th of July fireworks. I usually avoid the crowds from the Boston fireworks so it was fun to see any kind of fireworks from my own apartment window!
Beyond the trees I took some dreamy pictures...

And one of my favorite songs/videos..."fireworks" by Siouxsie & the Banshees

More summer images & creations coming soon!

rainy day love

Two days in a row of thunderstorms which I secretly love!
Even though going on outdoor Summer adventures is on the top of my list, here are some indoor things to love on a rainy day...
1. the basil plant that isn't quite ready yet but is starting to resemble real live basil!

2. leftover zing pizza from last night (augustus classicus)...anyone living around the Somerville/Boston area must try this pizza!

3. the back room to our apartment that is finally coming together. It houses mostly Dan's records and music equipment but also includes books and odds and ends left around from the move. here is a glimpse:

4. best of all...nooschie's grump face <3

forest friends & sea dwellers

While walking in Allston a few weeks ago on the way to a dance night, my friends and I spotted the most amazing mural filled with forest friends. How could we not pose with them?here with my bestie, Joey!
Joey likes to call me "mon petite lapin" which is a combination of my love for rabbits and our love for the French language!
He also introduced me to this which I will forever be obsessed with:

Lately I've been getting into all things ocean related and decided to paint a whole new series! Here is a preview of what I've been working on.

Seashells and a seahorse all painted on wooden plaques outlined in shades of metallic and white. The chalkboard looking one is just a sketch so far which I kind of like as is, however I'll probably paint them in pastel shades. These should be finished up soon and listed in my shop for a Summer update sometime soon!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer so far!
